Joan Clark Originator A Little History: The first product of the Pet*Alchemist was created back in l978 when my cocker spaniel Nike was diagnosed with a broken back. It was recommended that I put her to sleep, but that was not an option. I had been studying herbs, aromatherapy, alternative healing, and I knew there were other options available to try. Little did I know that she would be the one to guide me to what that would be, but she did. Every evening when I got home from work. I would carefully pick her up and take her to the nearby empty field where we lived and she would want me to put her down in this one area. As I sat there one day watching her, I notice that even though she could not move, her energy and attitude seemed to be better. I then saw her trying to roll over and noticed the plants lying under her were wild peppermint. I picked some and rubbed it against my skin. It was cooling and I felt a tingling sensation. I knew this plant was the reason that Nike liked going there it made her feel better. When we returned home, I got my herbal and aromatherapy books out looked up the chemistry and the healing properties of peppermint and created "Peppermint Peppy" which became the foundation for this line. The next years were filled with study, trainings, and finally becoming a partner in an aromatherapy company and school where I traveled the country teaching and sharing the wonderful healing power of plants and the art and science of aromatherapy. In those classes and in creating aromatherapy products for people, I had a passion to create a line for pets, so we started with our own pets and then our family and friends asked us to make something for their pets and the rest is history. The commitment was to prevention and keeping our pets healthy with the healing power of plants. We believe that within nature there is a cure for helping us stay well, and it was my beloved pet Nike who showed me the truth in that belief. Animals and nature have an intimate connection. They know which plants will help make them feel better. About Us: It's been over 25 years that I have been working with plant spirit alchemy. The journey has taken me around the world and back. I have been the eager student, the teacher, author, designer of products, co-creator and founder of an aromatherapy school, business and product line to presently living in the heartland of America growing all things aromatic and green. You may wish to personalize one of the Pet*Alchemist (or any other of my) products for a special need, in a way that is relatively inexpensive. For a fee over the cost of the initial product (priced on a case by case basis, but estimate at double), I can consult with you for a brief time and adapt an existing product by— for example— adding certain additional flower essences or ingredients tailored to your pet or yourself.
